  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 or extra cups powdered sugar
  • Pour scorching water over shortening. Add sugar and molasses and blend nicely with mixer. Add eggs and proceed mixing.  Combine collectively flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt with a wire whisk and add to molasses combination.
